Lunar Crystals

The moon represents emotion and powerful instincts, patterns, ancestral and karmic inheritances. For all moon signs it is recommended to meditate with a bloodstone at the full moon to uncover hidden unfulfilled desires that are controlling your life.

It is possible to reprogram patterns of behavior and facilitate healthy sources of nurturing.

The Zodiac Ascendant is the mask of our personality.

Virgo Ascendant

Sense of responsibility, love of truth, analytical, harmony, detached, flexible, organizational skills.

Blue Tourmaline – inspires compassion, tolerance, disperses negative thought patterns, facilitates creative solutions and speaking out when necessary.

Yoga

The two forces of mind and prana maintain the rhythm of life and consciousness. Everything in the universe is evolving. Matter in its ultimate form is energy. The goal of yoga is to turn the body into solid energy. – Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Uttankoormasana (stretching tortoise pose)

This asana should be performed on a blanket to protect the protruding back vertebrae.

Benefits:
  • Tones the nervous system, induces relaxation
  • Beneficial to people who suffer nervous disorders, are easily angered.
  • Regulates the adrenal glands, stimulates digestion, appetite.
  1. Lie in shavasana. Bring knees up to the chest and do padmasana.
  2. Push the right arm between the right calf muscle and thigh, up past the elbow, and the left arm between the left calf muscle and thigh, up past the elbow. This is also called garbhasana, the embryo pose.
  3. In the final position breath will be shallow because the stomach and lungs are pressed tightly.
  4. To come out of the position, first unclasp the hands, then unfold the legs and lie flat in shavasana for a few minutes.
Poetry

John Donne

Sonnet X “Death, be not proud”

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Might and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow
Die, not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me,
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure – then, form thee much more must flow;
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones and soul’s delivery.
Thou’rt slave to fate, chance, kings and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war and sickness dwell;
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well,
And better than thy stroke, Why swell’st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally.
And death shall be no more. Death, thou shalt die.

Al Stewart

Year of the Cat

Al Stewart & Peter Wood

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime

She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolour in the rain
Don't bother asking for explanations
She'll just tell you that she came
In the year of the cat

She doesn't give you time for questions
As she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow 'till your sense of which direction
Completely disappears
By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls
There's a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, I feel my life
Just like a river running through
The year of the cat

Well, she looks at you so cooly
And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her, to find what's waiting inside
The year of the cat

Well, morning comes and you're still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone
And you've thrown away the choice and lost your ticket
So you have to stay on

But the drum-beat strains of the night remain
In the rhythm of the new-born day
You know sometime you're bound to leave her
But for now you're going to stay
In the year of the cat
